In 2019 Minsk Half Marathon war run for the fifth time. The first edition was in 2013. Since then number of runners has increased two and a half times. Belarus is famous for its hospitality and now it is becoming popular for its races. Last year Minsk Half Marathon got IAAF Road Race Silver Label and that fact makes the race outstanding among other events that take place in the Eastern Europe and Russia. In 2018 35,000 runners fr om 53 countries participated in this race, but in a year 40 thousands of people fr om 68 countries came to Minsk.
The geography is incredible: China, The USA, Egypt, Iran, Japan, Mexico, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, India, Israel, Thailand, the UAE and the whole Europe. It is now more accessible to enter the country thanks to the newly introduced visa-free regime for all the runners coming to Belarus through the National airport for 30 days or less, which definitely makes the race more attractive for foreign athletes. Minsk Half Marathon course runs along Nemiga, the House of Parliament, Victory Square, Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre, Trinity Suburb, Minsk Arena, Great Patriotic War Museum and other historical and beautiful places.
Annually the race takes place at Minsk City Day, so you can enjoy activities and entertainments after participating in this emotional event. Apart from half marathon, there is a 10K, 5,5K and races for kids. All the races have separate starts and some runners participate in several races and get several medals. Each year a new finisher’s medal is designed, and experienced runners can show off their collections. One of the peculiarities is a very bright and emotional start that gives you energy to run as fast as you can. The most popular distance is 5,5km.
The registration was closed long time before the event because of the lim it of the participants. 25,000 challenge themselves and their friends at this distance. Last year 8.5 thousand people ran half marathon, and the same amount ran 10K. In addition, the number of corporate teams increases yearly For every participant Minsk Half Marathon is a real celebration. You can not only run the distance, but also at the same time take part in a great number of contest, e.g. the best dress, the funniest dress, motivating poster, the best photo, the best running family, Mister and Miss Minsk Half Marathon and many others. While running in a crowd you can meet the Minister of Sports of the Republic of Belarus, politicians, TV-presenters, singers, models, famous businesspersons, and even Olympic Champions. For several years, titled Belarusian athlete Volha Mazuronak was the face of Minsk Half Marathon. In 2020 is expected that the European Champion in marathon will take part in the race. The event attracts not only amateur runners but also elite athletes from all over the world. Split time is given for every 5 km.
